BIO

Sophie Gault is a timeless musician for the modern age — a singer/songwriter, storyteller, and guitarist whose music finds a balance between amplified Americana and rootsy folk. Drawing upon influences like Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer, Neko Case, Ryan Adams, and the Rolling Stones, Sophie and the Broken Things finds Gault taking stock of the present, the path that brought her to Nashville, and the memories she picked up along the way. It’s an EP of original music, rooted in confident guitar playing, Gault’s unforced vocals, autobiographical lyrics, and light touches of B3 organ, upright piano, and some beautifully subtle glockenspiel. At the center of that sound, though, is Gault herself: a small-town native with a big sound and an even bigger future, making sense of the world around her through song.

Delusions of Grandeur - the debut album

“...Delusions of Grandeur, the 10 songs offered up by singer-songwriter Sophie Gault and her ace band are full of vivid storytelling and timeless sounds that establish the group as a new talent worth knowing.” - No Depression

“Sophie Gault possessed all the ingredients to make a debut album for the ages – and with Delusions of Grandeur, she hasn’t disappointed. Her aching, lingering vocal style is reminiscent of Lucinda Williams, her songs are layered with evocative imagery and the arrangements tick all the Americana boxes.” - Holler.

“Gault may be influenced by the past but she brings a modern touch to her songwriting, and sings with a voice that is eminently suited to her mix of influences. This is one debut album that...should be talked about and listened to for quite some time.- Americana-UK

"Delusions of Grandeur is a punchy, raw and tuneful country album, one of my favorites this year." - Roots Radio WMOT 89.5

“Putting the "alternative" in "alt-country..." The song (Churches and Bars) feels like it's been passed through a filter of 1970s grime and inventiveness, with Sophie Gault's distinctive voice rising above...” - The Boot (single review)

“You can feel the breadth, depth and sheer variety of Gault’s musicality and songwriting skills running right through this impressive debut." - Holler.

"It only took a minute into her opening track 'Golden Rule' to know I was hearing a special new voice. Gault has a gripping, emotional country vibrato that calls to mind Lucinda Williams, Kelly Willis and Kelsey Waldon." - Roots Radio WMOT 89.5
